How often should I exercise

For a healthy lifestyle, exercise is vital. But, you don't need to spend a specific amount of time exercising. The key is finding something you enjoy and stick with it.

You should aim to do 20-30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise three times per week. Moderate intensity will mean that you'll continue to be exerting yourself afterward. This type of exercise burns approximately 300 calories.

Walk for at least 10 minutes four days a weeks if you prefer walking. Walking is easy on the joints and has low impact.

Jogging for 15 minutes three days a week is a good option if you prefer to run. Running is a great way of burning calories and building muscle tone.

Having a healthy lifestyle helps us live longer, happier lives. Healthy eating habits, regular exercise, healthy sleep habits, stress management, and good sleep habits can help to prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and other serious diseases.

A healthy lifestyle can also help improve mental health and make it easier to deal with daily stressors. Healthy living will boost self-confidence and make you look and feel younger.

What should I eat?

Get lots of fruits & vegetables. They contain vitamins and minerals which help keep your immune system strong. They are also rich in fiber, which is good for digestion and makes fruits and vegetables filling. Include at least five portions of fruit and vegetables per day.

Water is essential for your body. Water flushes toxins from the body and gives you a full feeling between meals. Drink about eight glasses each day.

Consume whole grains and not refined. Whole grains are rich in nutrients such as iron, zinc and magnesium. Refined grains have been stripped of some of their nutrition.

Avoid sugary beverages. Sugary drinks can be a source of empty calories, which can lead to obesity. Instead, choose water, milk, and unsweetened tea.

Limit your alcohol intake. Alcohol contains empty calories and contributes to poor nutrition. Limit yourself to no more than two alcoholic beverages a week.

Try to cut down on red meat. Red meats can be high in cholesterol and saturated fat. Instead, choose lean cuts of beef and pork, lamb, chicken or fish.

What is the difference between sugar and fat?

Fat is an energy source that comes from food. Sugar is a sweet substance found naturally in fruits and vegetables. Both fats as well as sugars contain the same amount of calories. Fats however, have more calories than sugars.

Fats are stored in your body and can cause obesity. They can cause cholesterol buildup, which can lead you to heart attacks and strokes.

Sugars can be quickly absorbed by your body and give you instant energy. This causes blood glucose levels in the body to rise. High blood glucose levels can pose a danger because they increase the chance of developing type II Diabetes.

What can be done to increase your immune system's effectiveness?

Human bodies are made up of trillions upon trillions of cells. Each cell is responsible for creating organs and tissues with specific functions. One cell is replaced by another when it dies. Chemical signals, called hormones, allow cells to communicate with each other. Hormones control all bodily functions, including growth, development, metabolism, immunity and immune system.

Hormones, chemicals that are secreted throughout the body by glands, are chemicals. They circulate through the blood stream and act as messengers to regulate how our bodies function. Some hormones are made internally, while others are created outside the body.

The hormone-producing glands release their contents into bloodstream. This is when hormone production starts. Once hormones are released, they move through the body to reach their target organ. Sometimes hormones stay active for only a short time. Others hormones remain active longer and still have an influence on the body's functioning long after they leave bloodstream.

Some hormones are made in large quantities. Some hormones are produced in large quantities.

Some hormones only are produced during certain periods of life. For example, estrogen is made during puberty. Estrogen is important for women to develop breasts and maintain bone density. It also helps prevent osteoporosis. Estrogen promotes hair growth, and skin stays soft and smooth.

Here are 10 tips to help you live a healthy life

How to live a healthy life

Our fast-paced world means that we aren't getting enough sleep, don't eat enough, drink too much alcohol, and smoke too many cigarettes. We don’t take proper care of our bodies.

It can be very difficult for someone who works full-time to have a healthy diet. It is even more difficult if you feel stressed. Then, your mind tells yourself that it cannot handle this situation any more so we feel guilty about it and give up.

You may feel that something is not right with your body. Seek out a doctor to discuss your current health condition. If there is nothing abnormal, then it might just be stress from your job.

Some people think they are lucky because their jobs enable them to regularly go to the gym or have good friends who encourage them to stay fit. Those people are lucky. These people don't have any difficulties. They managed everything. I wish every person could be like them. Unfortunately, many of us don’t know how to manage our personal and work lives. Many people develop bad habits that eventually lead to disease such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Here are some tips to help improve your lifestyle.

  1. Sleep well - at least 7 hours per night, maximum 8 hours. This includes proper sleeping positions and avoiding caffeine during the last hour before going to bed. Caffeine blocks melatonin hormones, making it difficult to fall asleep. Make sure your bedroom is dark and clean. If you work late at night, make sure you have blackout curtains.
  2. Get healthy - Start your day with a good breakfast. Avoid sugary products, fried food and white breads. Lunch should include fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. You should eat healthy afternoon snacks that are high in protein. These include nuts, seeds beans, legumes, fish, cheese, and dairy products. Avoid unhealthy snacks like chips, candies, cookies, cakes and sodas.
  3. Drink plenty of water - Most of us don' t drink enough water. Water is good for us. It helps us lose more calories, keeps the skin soft and youthful, improves digestion, and flushes out toxins. Drinking six glasses of water daily will help you lose weight faster. The best way of determining your hydration is to check the color in your urine. Yellow means dehydrated; orange means slightly dehydrated; pink means normal; red means overhydrated; and clear means highly-overhydrated.
  4. Exercise - Regular activity can help increase energy and decrease depression. Walking can be a great way to improve your mood. Walking may appear easy but requires concentration and effort. Your brain needs to keep your eyes on the road and focus on breathing slow and deep. A brisk walk for 30 minutes can burn between 100 and 150 calories. Start slowly and increase your pace gradually. To avoid injuries, stretch after exercising.
  5. Positive thinking is key to mental health. When we think positively, we create a happy environment inside ourselves. Negative thoughts can drain energy and cause anxiety. You can stay motivated by thinking about what you want to achieve. You don't have to take on all of the new tasks at once. Break them down into smaller tasks. Be aware that you will fail at times, but don't despair. Just get back up and start over.
  6. Learn to say no - We often get so busy that we do not even realize how much time we waste doing unimportant things. It is important you can say no when it is necessary. Not saying "no" is rude. It is just saying no. There will always be another way to finish the job. Set boundaries. Ask for help. You can also delegate this task to another person.
  7. Take care your body. Keep track of what you eat. Eating healthier foods will boost your metabolism and help you shed those extra pounds. Do not eat anything too heavy or oily because they tend to raise cholesterol levels. A good tip is to have three meals and two snacks daily. Around 2000 to 2500 calories should be consumed each day.
  8. Meditate – Meditation is great for stress relief and anxiety. Your mind will relax when you sit still and close your eyes. This exercise will allow you to have clarity of thought which can be very useful in making decisions. Meditation will help you feel calmer and happier.
  9. Don't skip breakfast - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Skipping breakfast may lead to overeating during lunchtime. It's never too late for a healthy breakfast, as long as it is eaten within an hour of your waking hours. Eating breakfast boosts your energy and helps you manage your hunger better.
  10. Good food is healthy. Avoid junk food and food that contains artificial ingredients or preservatives. These foods make your body feel acidic, and can trigger cravings. A variety of fruits and vegetables is rich in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that can help improve overall health.
